Saving Your Life With Tennis

While many of us play tennis just for our love of the game, have you ever stopped to think about all the ways tennis improves your health, maybe even enough to save your life? If not, then let us count our tennis health blessings.

We move:
Running, stretching, moving during the course of the game increases the oxygen in our bodies, which helps our hearts and circulation. It can also decrease blood pressure and increase our mood, not to mention burning quite a few calories and decreasing our chances of developing diabetes.

We play:
Reaching, hitting, playing the game increases our flexibility and coordination, and helps us maintain a strong sense of balance, which can be especially helpful as we get older. In addition to physical flexibility, we increase mental flexibility by developing and following through on strategy.

We strengthen:
Starting, stopping, turning to make the play can help bone density in young and old. For younger players, tennis can help build bone density; older players can decrease the loss of bone with tennis. We also strengthen our immune system through the exercise we get with tennis.

We live:
Breathing, moving, getting our game on means we live more exciting and fun-filled lives, with more opportunities to make friends and increase our social network and activities. Tennis can be played at all ages and at any level of expertise, and can be started at any time of life.

So, now that you know how much tennis improves your health, don't you want all of your loved ones to have these wonderful benefits? By sharing your love of tennis, you may not only save your own life, but those of your friends and family.
